Re: Order of Learning/Practicing Dhamma
Hi ccharles, what you may be looking for is what is referred to as the Gradual Training. Access to Insight has a good introductory article on the topic. At a high level, the key steps in practice are: 1. Cultivation of generosity. 2. Cultivation of morality (ie 5 Precepts) 2. Practice of the Noble E...

Re: The Dhamma Wheel Meditation Challenge
Hi all, very inspirational thread. It was interesting to read the waxing and waning and waxing again of the practice. The disruptions of family life. Struggle with posture. Struggle with noise. Busy minds. etc. It mirrors my own experience. I've been struggling this year to re-establish my ow...

Re: Digger's top 10 meditation observations
Hi Digger, Your list stimulated some thoughts, so I thought I'd share: 1. Largely agree with your point about the difficulty of explaining the meditation experience to non-meditators. It's hard to give directions for someone when they don't have the vocabulary to understand the landmarks, especially...

Much metta to JC, his family and friends.
I don't post here often, but I do read quite frequently, and have come to know JC as one of the DW regulars.
Metta,
Jason

Re: i-phone apps
Access to Insight has an iphone app that basically bundles all their content for offline browsing. As I don't mind reading off the screen, I've found it quite useful. I'm not aware of any other useful dhamma-related apps. With metta, Jason ps: just occurred to me that your A@I ref was probably Acces...

Hi Jack,BlackBird wrote: Do you go to hear Ajahn Brahm's public talks?
I used to attend regularly but I stopped due to the birth of a new child and associated obligations.
I still listen to the talks regularly though and intend to return when life settles down a bit.

Re: Dealing with people who want to hurt us...
Hi green-tea, I am sorry to read that you are in such difficult circumstances at the moment. However, in my own practice, I have found that all of my own suffering has been a great opportunity for insight, or at least motivation for practice. My thoughts on the matter are: 1. Are you safe? Out of co...

Hello (again)
Greetings all, I stumbled across this little forum the other day after searching for an update on e-sangha. I used to read a lot and post a bit. I've just been reading through a couple of the posts, catching up on things, and I have to say that I've missed you all, old and new dhamma friends. Much m...
