Hello again!

Hi everyone, Was absent for a while... had a lot of stuff going on in my life, strayed away from the dhamma. Spent a lot of time in the last several months reflecting on samsara and dukkha -- trying to get my stuff together. All in all, a resounding success, things are going in a much more positive ...

Re: Regarding the absence of "JCSuperstar"

I second this beautiful verses. May James have a rebirth where he can hear and practise the Dhamma May James have happiness and the causes of happiness May he quickly progress on the path to Nibbana and never fall back. May those he has left behind be free of mental and physical pain. May you be fr...

Re: Headed to Thailand!

Hi WithoutColour, Thanks for the interesting report. Most of the people here are from the UK ... I am the only American. As expected, I am picked on and discriminated against for it. A lot of people told me that they're surprised how nice I am considering I'm from America. And folks make fun of my ...

Re: Headed to Thailand!

Hello Just popping on quicky to let you all know how it's going. I am currently in Phetchaburi... I've been caring for the elephants for around 4 days so far. The animal refuge is so huge -- it has hundreds of animals in gorgeous enclosures taken care of by volunteers and caring staff. Everyone work...

Headed to Thailand!

Hi all, You might know me, but for the most part I keep quiet and just read here on dhammawheel. Anyway, thought I'd start a thread about my trip to Thailand -- I am leaving Aug 6 (this Friday)... I am going there to volunteer with elephants in Phetchaburi province (for 3 weeks), then I'm spending 2...

I agree. Think about how messed up his mind must be, and how terrible it must be to live with such a mind.

Re: Wat advice in Thailand

Hi Brianna.Thai can seem so daunting to us farang. So many different ways to say the same thing to different people.Tonal sounds, that I often have problems with. Lucky for us that the thais are an understanding people who just love the fact that we try to speak a little of their language and try to ...

Re: Wat advice in Thailand

Thanks to you both. I will report back to let you know how things go. I'm going to try my hardest to speak correctly... When I went last year (for 2 weeks), I didn't think to try to learn the language and though it wasn't really necessary for what I was doing, it would have come in handy. Also, a lo...

Sawatdee ka everyone, This post is sort of directed to Thai speakers and those with experience in Thailand: Heading to Thailand for a month in two weeks... I will be staying in Phetchaburi province, at Kao Look Chang, which is an animal sanctuary that is on temple grounds... I speak a good bit of co...

Re: Disrespect

Gee I hope being naked in front of a Buddha statue isn't bad because my five Buddha statues watch me get dressed every day!!! Anyway. The Buddha image isn't really the Buddha, don't be too attached to the image. Obviously be respectful. As mentioned before, in certain countries you shouldn...

Re: My buddhist hardcore punk band!

Thanks a lot for these lyrics, bodom ;) At a Buddhist hardcore concert, do you thrash and mosh? Moshing can be so violent (especially if people are punching in the pit), so it would seem to contradict the message in the music. HOWEVER, I've written about this before, how in the pit there is a sense...
