Re: Is the enlightened one absolutely sure that there is no god?
Would you please answer my question then, what is creating the universe? Certainly i am not doing it, and you are not doing it, then what is the force behind it if not god? I can see your point, the Universe is so big and amazing how could it exist unless God created it. If God created it then then...

Re: Negative spirits/demons etc.
What does Buddhism have to say about negative/malign spirits or beings? I know in Tibet there is the view that 'Dons' - non-human beings cause many illnesses. Does the same idea exist in Theravada cultures? Not the same idea, but these translation may give you a hint. It's is about upper realms. ht...

In my opinion, mindfully reading and comtemplating sutta is also a form of meditation.

Re: Watching the silence in the mind
Yes. I also prefer to watch mind status rather than breathing.Whatever obvious to focus is valid for meditation. Sometime, breathing and sometime, mind status. It is right there in maha sattipathana sutta, which can be divided into four parts: body, feeling, mind, dhamma. Breathing meditation is par...

Re: I'd feed a starving child before a healthy arahant
I would simply split the food into equal parts and give them. Why bother with how much I would get in return? The giving to arahant is blameless, wise, skifull, etc. cos' it is saddha. The giving to the child is blameless, wise, skillful cos' it is compassion (garuna). But thinking what they would d...

Re: he has a wife but we do eye contact is it a serious bad action?
I don't think it is a serious bad action, or a sin. But as they all say, it has the potential. From my view, it is a hinderance, which you may know from maha satipathana sutta. If you would like to contemplate: is it skillful? it is wise? is it praised by the wise? would it give welfare and good res...

Re: Intention
First of all, good intention will not always have good result. In one story, a son, making woods for fire with an axe in hand, see a mosquito on his father's forehead. Wanting to help to remove that mosquito, hold the axe, swing it at it. Imagine the result. :-) So, I think, Good intention plus wisd...
