confusion
I am confused on the subject of Saṅkhāra. I dont understand what a volitional formation is. I know that volition is like will or decision making. But what is a Volitional, Mental, or Compositional Formation?

Re: Thoughts
So what you are saying Bodom is that Arahants do think, but that their thought-process is pure?

Thoughts
In other spiritual traditions you will see people talking about eliminating thoughts. Is this the same in Theravada Buddhism? To be an Arahant to I have to stop thinking? Did Buddha have thoughts, do Arahants have thoughts?
Basically did Buddha think or did he stop his thought process.

Re: Disrespect
Gee I hope being naked in front of a Buddha statue isn't bad because my five Buddha statues watch me get dressed every day!!! Anyway. The Buddha image isn't really the Buddha, don't be too attached to the image. Obviously be respectful. As mentioned before, in certain countries you should...

Re: The same in Theravada?
Im not sure how I would define it. The act of being aware? Again im not to sure! Its not even mentioned as an aggrigate either, oh well. I wont dwell on it anymore. Its just that the two words have haunted me for a while because some say they are the same and others say they are not. It may not be o...

The same in Theravada?
In many other traditions of enlightenment and self-realization you will see the words Consciousness and Awareness. Are they the same according to buddhism, or are they different? I know some of you may not know of a man named Nisargadatta Maharaj, but he said they are different and that Awareness is...

Re: Disrespect
But are there any Karmic Consequences? Did Buddha ever talk about this subject or is it not really of importance. The way I look at it is that the image of a Buddha represents his qualities and his teachings and should therefore be respected. I know that there are many people out there who have imag...
