Re: Google Saffron is here!

That's what I thought, but you should know that he is kind of the dynamic of the jhana_insight yahoo group too. I would say that his teachings are 95% consistent with theravada (you can find a pdf about a prayer that sounds mahayana to me on his website, and also one audio file about tonglen). You c...

Re: Google Saffron is here!

Actually, you just have to have "site:www.dhammawheel.com" somewhere in your search query, not necessarily in the beginning. So, if I want to search "Ajahn Chah" on dhammawheel, these three suggestions would work the same : site:www.dhammawheel.com ajahn chah ajahn chah site:www....

Re: Arahants still experiencing pain AND suffering ?

I would say that the pain is the fruit of Angulimala's kamma. I'm sorry Hanzee, but I have the feeling that your questions aren't helping the thread. If you have ideas, or answers, please express them directly. If you have other questions, would you mind asking them via pm ? That way the thread woul...

Re: Arahants still experiencing pain AND suffering ?

Dipa Ma said that she was at least an Anagami. And she said that she felt negative emotions, just that she didn't suffer with them. Her words were "they do not burn". (curiously, that's what I think Daniel Ingram says...) If it doesn't burn, why would the Buddha advice an Arahant to bear ...

Re: Arahants still experiencing pain AND suffering ?

That's funny because I don't understand how you don't ! Then Ven. Angulimala, dwelling alone, secluded, heedful, ardent, & resolute, in no long time reached & remained in the supreme goal of the holy life for which clansmen rightly go forth from home into homelessness, knowing & realizin...

Re: Arahants still experiencing pain AND suffering ?

Yes I do, and I don't think the sutta is ambiguous about that... Why are you asking ? You don't ?

Arahants still experiencing pain AND suffering ?

It seems that it is commonly assumed that arahants are totally liberated from suffering, even if they still experience pain. I've been wondering for a while whether parinibbana brings a little higher level of peace than "simple" nibbana... In some suttas, the words of Buddha suggest that t...

Re: View active topics

My mistake : as I bookmarked it, I didn't know exactly which one I was using. I was actually speaking about the "view new posts" button, which show you all the new posts since your last visit.

Re: View active topics

I also use this feature, but I'd much rather use a "unread messages" button, as we can find in several forums. The problem with "view active topics", is that if I login, read a few messages and then log out, the next time I login, most of the posts won't appear anymore in "v...

Re: I give books

Sorry I forgot to update the list since I gave the remaining books to the monastary I visited this summer. I don't have any book left to give (except in french, pm if interested). The making of is also interesting, as it explains some of the fearful situations they had (where they thought they would be caught) :

the great vegetarian debate

This is a difficult question, as there is no equivalent in the agamas : so this could totally be one thing the theravada sect added to its canon (as one could reasonably think that the sarvastivada sect added some things in their suttas , as, for example, the fact that the past and the future actual...
