Re: The way that I found into boundless space - vipassana

I also have another way of purifying space which comes after the above way. In this one I have the last technique - so all I'm doing is noting points in space. Except this time - after I note a point I go and refind the point (i.e. I instruct my mind to keep doing this - I don't actually do it - the...

Re: The way that I found into boundless space - vipassana

OK - I've found a good way to purify space now... Above I said that "as the waves of focus shoot out miles" I would note "out there". Well (although I don't actually verbally note it) now I only note this - so I am no longer aware of the flow of focus to the destination point in ...

Directed Zazen

Hey guys, This is currently the basis I normally use for meditation now. You can meditate on anything with it. No effort is required in this meditation at all - putting in any effort ruins it. So I firstly go zazen - just staying continuously mindful of the present moment. Now - to direct the medita...

Re: Dependent Origination

Hey now, don't assume that I agree. The suttas are one thing, Daniel Ingram is quite another. I'm not a fan of his really, but that's just my stance. I'm glad that you've found an outside source. I think I understand better now what you're talking about, the process of mental impressions and reacti...

Re: Dependent Origination

Greetings! Help me out here - How come when searching Daniel's book nimmita & citta return 0 finds? How does he spell them in the book? Metta He used the words "crude mental image" and "conciousness" (they're in the quote I gave). If you like I can use these instead - makes ...

Re: Dependent Origination

I continue to disagree with your interpretation. I think you're making it all a hell of a lot more complicated than it needs to be, adding things that don't need to be added. But anyway, if it works for you, then alright. That's all I can say. A lot of what is being described is naught more than me...

The way that I found into boundless space - vipassana

Hey guys... OK - so this isn't like the usual way of getting to boundless space which is through samatha but it's definiately boundless and space (not black or anything - just spacial awareness). The suttas say that sariputta attains boundless space by discerning all objects and finding there causes...

Re: Here is the answer why do people today do not achieve Bodhi

Greetings Anicca, BTW............. Did you know Daniel Ingram has a forum? - Just trying to help you o-u-t! Heheh... no, it's not like that. The reference that whitewedding listed to above was to Daniel Ingram ("Arahant")'s book and Daniel has a forum specifically dedicated for...

Re: Here is the answer why do people today do not achieve Bodhi

I will listen to people - but not that guy I was just talking to - he has nothing helpful to say. Oh sorry - you are the guy I was talking to - lol. It's a nice day for a white wedding. It's a nice day to start again. What was the original topic of this thread? Oh, yeah - Here is the answer to ... ...

Re: Here is the answer why do people today do not achieve Bodhi

The answer is quite simple. People are putting too much effort while meditating. And I will just say wu-wei. Hope some of you contemplatives will understand. Apparently lots of people do (they just don't tell unenlightened people about it because they obviously get deemed insane). He says in this b...

Re: Dependent Origination

And - from this quote we can automatically derive that the nimmita are in fact nama. He is talking about vipassana being concentrating both on the object and the crude mental impression following it, and vipassana is described as the meditation on nama-rupa. Cheers for your skepticism man - it made ...

Re: Dependent Origination

I have found the perfect quote and thanks to this I now know I'm right and that what I experience as citta is actually citta: Page 202 of "Mastering the core teachings of the buddha": "Further, as the sensations are observed including the crude mental impression that follows them (&qu...

Re: Dependent Origination

Oh - I've found a good way to describe what I think is the citta... It is like loads and loads and loads of planes of focus (not awareness - focus - that's the right word). The nimmitas are then contained in these planes of focus - each nimmita corresponding to a particular sensations. So as soon as...

Re: Dependent Origination

But I do stick to the suttas (although they have been translated in many different ways so obviously no one knows for sure the techniques given in them) - and this is what happens for me. I don't know how my terms aren't consistent - they seem to be entirely consistent to me. Yeah - I think it does ...
