For Ajahn Chah tradition which I am following here, all the soft drinks,fruit juices(without pulps,and it's shouldn't bigger than a human fist), coffee without milk, 3 in 1 drinks, teas are legible to consume,if u are practising the 8 precepts.

Since Fa Xian had obtained the Agamas(Which it was in Sanskrit) from the Ceylon, at that time it was no Pali Tipitaka but Sinhalese texts, ven.Buddhagohsa translated them to the Pali.

According to the Mahavamsa(The great Chronicles), at that time. it was the Abhayagiri's influence in the Ceylon before the great commentator-Acariya Buddhagohsa came to place, which they too accepted the Sanskrit texts(including Mahayana's Sutras) , so probably Fa Xien has obtained the Abhayagiri's ...
