Re: With right awareness any object is right object
But the packages of mental activity and association, which I choose to label a concept, do arise and pass away. The parts change and fluctuate, resulting in a change in the overall package, if you choose to look at it from that perspective as I have. I think that's the main thing, it is indeed a qu...

Re: Mental Pain and Aversion in Meditation
Thank you Srotapanna. I'm feeling a little less despairing, a little more concentrated in meditation. For the last couple of days, I've dropped all but metta meditation, in which I am at least able to concentrate for more than a few moments at once. I intend to stick with this approach for a few we...

Re: With right awareness any object is right object
I think the unexplained subtext of Alex's question is whether insight is possible when the object is a concept. Generally, conceptual objects such as metta, kasinas, or breath nimittas are classified as samatha objects (and the above-mentioned are some that are said to lead to jhana). Insight pract...

Re: Mental Pain and Aversion in Meditation
Many thanks to all responders for the very thoughtful and helpful advice. All very helpful and useful suggestions, thank you for taking the time to respond. :namaste: I have spent more time solely in Metta meditation today, and listening to the Ajahn Sujato talk. This felt less painful. On the sugg...

Do you agree with the phrase:
