Re: Is looking at pornography considered sexual misconduct?

Probably not a transgression in the literal sense. But, research a little more about what goes on behind the scenes and you will want to stay away. There is this site, yourbrainonporn which does a good job explaining why it might not be the most beneficial thing for you anyway. At the same time, fee...

Re: Ajahn Brahm and the strange bottles of Pepsi!

You've got that wrong. This whole Pepsi scenario started out with a monk having an unwholesome desire. There was no such thing with the Buddha. Don't you think it would be more beneficial for your own mind stream if you rejoiced in him keeping his vows so well that the devas are willing to give him...

Re: dating a girl of 18 when i am 22

General party rule of thumb:

Age divided by two plus seven. So, you are 22 /2+7=18 This works until a certain age.

Re: Buddha talked to Acharn Mun?

Nice stories Dhammanando. Just curious but is there a place you would deem appropriate to stay at? Where both the Vinaya and the practice are uphold according to orthodox standards? I don’t personally know of any Thai monastery of which I could say: “All (or most) of the monks living there both obs...

I think the venerable would welcome any comments with substance. Please elaborate on the simplicity of that post for a simple mind such as myself. :anjali:

Re: Western Teachers of the Thai Forest Tradition

Yes, very cool. I think Zom asks a very good question. Hope you will answer it.

Where is Kruba Phrommajak's main site located nowadays? Hard to find any info on google.

Thanks again. Very interesting.

Re: Western Teachers of the Thai Forest Tradition

Venerable,

If I may ask, but what is your tradition? Do you consider yourself a forest tradition monk or do you have a different background?

Thanks,

Re: Is there a Dhammayut monastery in Thailand for westerners?

If you peruse http://www.wanderingdhamma.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; there is a mention of the Wat of MahaBua. There is an English speaker there. Very interesting reports on that site.

Re: Meditating when sleep deprived

There is a tradition in Thailand where, at the end of one's retreat (21days or more), one has to meditate continually for 3 days and nights. Don't know how they do it but sounds pretty cool.

Re: Thoughts on weightlifting

Look into Cross-fit. We do a lot of weight stuff but also a lot of cardio, flexibility, coordination and other work. In about 2 months, 2x a week I have gotten a lot stronger and fitter. I can now do pull-ups, chin-ups and a lot more push-ups than before.

Re: Having children with a strongly deluded spouse?

Hi Puppha, I am glad you thought my questions were helpful. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to help you further. If I were in your situation, I would get a divorce. But, first I would try therapy--after having my wife's head examined (this only because in one of House's episodes the sudden onset o...

Re: Having children with a strongly deluded spouse?

Puppha, Sorry to hear about your situation. I have a few questions for you though: Do you still love each other? When you married, were you Buddhist and she Christian? Do you think this is only a phase where she will eventually grow out of? Do you think she might have a brain injury or other sort of...
