Re: Mahasi Vipassana Retreats in Europe

Satipanya centre is a great place to meditate, I can recommend it. I'm contracting at the moment and may end up having some time off in January. I fancied doing a weeks mahasi but can't seem to find anywhere in Europe running a course. It seems a bit extravagant to fly to the US or Nepal, Burma etc ...

Re: Bhante Bodhidhamma, Satipanya

Hi, Yes I sat a retreat at satipanya last summer and am going back in a weeks time. He is a great teacher, very motivating and inspiring and very funny too. Satipanya is a lovely place to meditate.

Hi all!

Hi, thought I'd say hello seeing as I spend a fair bit of time reading the posts on here. I first got involved with Buddhism through my local Tibetan Buddhist centre as a teenager and spent some time living there... but eventually decided it wasn't for me. I became interested in Theravada Buddhism t...

Re: The Dhamma Wheel Meditation Challenge

I had to get up at 5 this morning to fit in an hour before work. That wasn't too much of a challenge, but motivating myself to sit for an hour once I'd got back from work was a different matter - but I'm glad I did it in the end. I feel a lot lighter after just 2 days and also feel like my interacti...

Re: The Dhamma Wheel Meditation Challenge

Hi all, For the next week I am going to try to sit for 2 hours a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. (Thats 55 mins of vipassana and 5 mins of metta per session). I have been sitting for 45 minutes in the morning and not often getting round to it in the evening! Would anyone care to jo...

Re: Vipassana - Insight Knowledge

If you hear statements like 'bhanga (nana) is the reason why people keep coming back' you would know in an instant that that statement has nothing to do with bhanga nana. hi RYB, I think I read the post that you are quoting from and I think there might be some crossed wires somewhere. I could be wr...

Re: 30 day retreat

thanks for your replies and yes I'll be sure to report back when I'm done! I'm doing the retreat at Satipanya centre in Wales with Bhante Bodhidhamma. Sounds good, but you should attain your jhanas first. Otherwise you will spend considerable time just developing the required amount of samadhi! good...

30 day retreat

Hi all, After doing a few 10 day courses (both goenka and mahasi) my teacher suggested I come back for 30 days of mahasi meditation this summer. I wasn't sure at first if I was ready for that (and thought maybe I should do 20 days) but he said if I want to do longer retreats then I should just go fo...
