Re: Help! How to raise a child in an inter-faith marriage?
Yeah, I'm bumping the thread, but you're all buddhists so you'll be cool with it. :) My wife has been Christian much of her life, and has turned it up a notch in the last 6-8 months by going to an Evangelical church. I have a son who is four years old. He has a bible, they say their prayers before b...

This about an hour and ahalf from where I live: http://www.moonfun.net/Milwaukee_Files/Milwaukee_pix/BongRecreationArea_300.jpg Sorry to be more vulgar, but it's officially the Richard Bong Rec Area, which would make for a very unusual type of bong. At least I hope it's unusual since I don't smoke ...

Re: Michele Bachmann Seeks To Ban Masturbation and Menstruation
She is a complete idiot, and a sad statement on the state of affairs in America today. No satire can do justice to the lunacy of those fools. I don't think she's particularly intelligent, but I wouldn't' call her an idiot. She's just a Protestant and her beliefs are in line with most American Prote...

Re: the great vegetarian debate
Interestingly, there was an issue in this country not long ago with regards to live cattle exports to Indonesia. Footage surfaced of indonesian slaughterhouse pracitces, via Animals Australia, and was aired on national television. Virtually overnight public support for a ban of live cattle exports ...

Re: the great vegetarian debate
Please explain how I cause a being to be killed by masticating a piece of chicken. By economically reducing demand, you'll likely reduce supply over time. If your whole neighborhood immediately becomes vegan, there's probably a nearby animal farm or two that's going to shutdown because no one buys ...

Re: Sutta on Anger
I'm returning to a practice of Buddhism. Sort of got into it about 12 years ago during my senior year in high school, now I'm almost 30 and looking for some direction from an old friend - namely, the Buddha. The past 12 years have left me friendless, in debt, and horribly, horribly angry and resent...

Re: Sutta on Anger
I guess the only real answer to understanding why I'm so pissed off at everything and how to overcome that negative sensation is through meditation. Anger isn't a base emotion - there's some other emotion behind it that you'll see if you keep observing. Maybe you're hurt or embarrassed, or maybe yo...
