Thanks for thoughts you both.
I came to think that there is also a risk that making exceptions may eventually lead to back average meat-eating diet. And people would probably accept my conviction better, if I didn't make lot of exceptions.

So, I won't start eating meat at all :)

I have been Vegetarian for 3 and half years (It is really THAT long time already??). If asked reasons I say that I respect life and support non-violence. I don't usually mention Buddhism, but surely it is one reason. I wouldn't think animal rights, if I wasn't a Buddhist... Now I have been thinking ...

Buddhism says that it is possible to get free from suffering. And it also says that it is possible in this very life.

That's even optimism to me...

Hi Individual, Yes, it's tough. My Mother has various excruciating aches and pains from a car accident a few years ago, and from just generally getting old. It certainly wouldn't help to tell her to: "Jusst snap out of it, it's all in your mind." Figuring out how to deal with the sufferin...

Thanks for the link. I knew about it, but there was some groups that I didn't know they existed.
Buddhism is spreading in Finland too, so I have to just watch what is going to happen and try to practice dhamma :smile:

Hi! I am a twentysomething Buddhist from Finland. I am not absolutely sure of my Buddhist school, but theravada feels good. Unfortunately there isn't really Theravada Buddhism in Finland.
