I came to think that there is also a risk that making exceptions may eventually lead to back average meat-eating diet. And people would probably accept my conviction better, if I didn't make lot of exceptions.

I have been Vegetarian for 3 and half years (It is really THAT long time already??). If asked reasons I say that I respect life and support non-violence. Buddhism says that it is possible to get free from suffering. And it also says that it is possible in this very life.
