Re: Getting used to sobriety

Thanks everyone for your support.

I reckon I'm making this sound worse than it is!

Think I'm over the hump with nicotine, feeling much calmer today. Man. I have nothing else to give up! Amazing!

Re: Getting used to sobriety

5 months sober apart from nicotine. 3 days 100% sober.... And fell off the wagon. Giving up nicotine creates SO much anger. I gave in to dukkha and had some beers. They were horrible! I felt a million times worse! More anger, more frustration. Very useful lesson to learn.... Alcohol makes you think ...

It went well, we had a frank discussion, he threw away all the drugs. We will see how things go.

Re: I want to scream at my husband

Thank you, it's good not to feel alone. You are right a frank discussion with an ultimatum is the best way to deal with it rather than angry screaming. Your also right if I issue an ultimatum I need to follow through with it. Better make sure the ultimatum is sensible. Just hope I can be strong. Cry...

I want to scream at my husband

There is anger so this post is unlikely to contain skillful words. My husband disrespects me, he lies to me about illegal drugs and expects me to pick up the pieces and forgive him. Apart from the drug issue that comes up every 1-2 months we have a really good loving relationship. This morning I hav...

Serious back pain when sitting

I find it so uncomfortable to sit in half lotus or just crossed legged, I want too, but it hurts and I find it difficult to get a full breath. I just sit in a chair or lean against something normally so it's fine, but I wonder if I'm sitting wrong!? Sit up straight it's so much effort and I can't br...

Re: Buddhism & overcoming traumatic experiences?

Mindfulness, mindfulness, mindfulness. Getting distance and a non judgemental acceptance of traumatic memories is hugely helpful.

Re: Getting used to sobriety

Still going, getting used to it more now. Just watching thoughts of 'one won't hurt'. Minds also saying 'wish it was longer' just noticing the desire for a longer time sober. Why does nicotine count as an intoxicating substance? It doesn't have any recreational value (as in it doesn't get you high, ...

Re: Boring newbie questions

Oo hello. No not really, well I have opinions about the nuns order but that that is another thread. I used to go loads but I've seriously got out of the habit. Really need to put more effort in, so lucky to live within driving distance from a theravada monastery. It's only 40min down the road. Do yo...
