I'd advise to just be aware of your breath rather than concentrate or focus on it :)

Re: What do Buddhists think of Jesus Christ?

What do white people think of Jesus?
What do asian people think of Jesus?
etc etc

All I will say is after looking into the evidence (or the lack of evidence) of what the bible says and the moral implications of what it says, I left Christianity.

Re: I have never meditated before..

Yuttadhammo has a video playlist that should be very helpful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLvU7ppM4vE&playnext=1&list=PLD194501B7EFD58C7" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I can second that, he follows Mahasi's teachings and explains them in a way that's very easy t...

Re: Dalai Lama steps down as Tibetan leader

I would say it's long overdue because politics and religion is a heady mix, and often, the two are not compatible. They make uneasy bedfellows, and there are, I'm sure, many times that the Dalai Lama may have felt uncomfortable wearing both hats, due to some decisions sitting better one way than th...

Re: Dalai Lama steps down as Tibetan leader

I have to say I think this is long overdue. No head of state should be a religious leader in my opinion and a freely elected leader is something that every country should have

Re: Questions, Questions, Questions...

Thanks for the responses guys, I will attend one of the groups. Is there any reason why I should stay away from the New Kadampa groups in particular? And thank you for that link cooran but I'd already poached it from another thread :) it's how I know about the Tibetan groups close by Bluishpurple :n...

Questions, Questions, Questions...

2 questions I need to ask. Firstly, where I live appears to be around 40 miles away from any Theravada Sangha's or meditation groups/teachers. There are however quite a lot of Tibetan meditation groups within travelling distance for me, would it be okay for me to attend a meditation and dhamma discu...

From what I understand it is best not to dwell on our mistakes but to try and forgive ourselves and move on and progress spiritually and as a person, that Kamma will 'sort out the rest' as it...
