Can someone direct me to the secret teachings that Buddha kept so secret that he pretended they didn't exist? I desire to read them myself.

Re: The Most Amazing Photo Ever Taken (?)
Some of the reports about some of the formless jhanas are of similar vein. Yep. As far as my experience has shown me, contemplating an image like this photo is basically all you need for the "boundless space" jhana. As for how it affects our day-to-day, although on the one hand you could ...

Re: The best that one can do?
The recent notes I've made to myself is this: Whatever you are aware right now, let go of clinging. Do it every moment, every day, until you are fully Awakened. And even then, continue doing it for pleasant abiding in the here and now. The awareness can be of seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, bod...

Re: Do you believe in Arahants?
The title "The Path to Arahantship" is not what I would call being coy. I think it is clear from what is in there that Ajahn Maha Boowa was saying he was an arahant and he was describing in detail the practice to get to that point. And he just died a few months ago so.. there ya g...

Re: a few wise words please
Don't recall. (Let go of what has passed) Don't imagine. (Let go of what may come) Don't think. (Let go of what is happening now) Don't examine. (Don't try to figure anything out) Don't control. (Don't try to make anything happen) Rest. (Relax, right now, and rest) Oh man, I like those. Thanks. :)

Re: a few wise words please
These helped me a bunch just now (being upset myself): When a person lives heedlessly, his craving grows like a creeping vine. He runs now here & now there, as if looking for fruit: a monkey in the forest. If this sticky, uncouth craving overcomes you in the world, your sorrows grow like wild gr...

lol, enlightened, whatever.Kenshou wrote:I think the Dalai Lama would be a little disappointed if he were an arahant, don't you think? Kind of throws off the Mahayana path, and that would be the end of the dalai lamas too!

Re: Do you believe in Arahants?
This is slightly OT, but I don't really understand why it's expected or desirable for an arahant to be all coy about their enlightenment. I certainly understand the impulse to judge and be suspicious of anyone who claims such a thing, but if the Buddha himself didn't make it such a secret, why shoul...

Re: What happened?
My mind went extremely quiet and there was a much deeper awareness of this silence. Unlike other occasions when this has happened, the silence/space kind of expanded in all directions at once and it felt as if I was within some gigantic space of peace. This description could very well be a descript...

Re: Vipassana recreates infancy?
A lot of verbal thought are based on defilements of craving, conceit and views. We cannot have a purified mind with these floating about generally causing us to be living in the past or the future. The present moment is free from thought (the experience of it, that is). We need to be in the present...
