Re: i think i need to simplify my practice

i think we all go through the book buying stage, heck i just downloaded a load of new ebook PDFs to my ipad for mobile dhamma but getting bogged down in what is essentially someone else's opinion/experience/translation is nowhere near as good as getting bogged down in you own experience

Re: Mixing traditions- No Theravada temple near

i too have this problem. Hartridge Monastery is 90mins + drive away so rarely get to go to the evening Puja  I have noticed a Zen group only 10 minutes away that meets once a week and also a Diamond Way (Vajriyana i believe) group in Exeter which is an hours drive. There is also a Pure Land NK...

Re: Going to temple

Yes visiting a monastery is so inspiring and fulfilling IMO you get to meet other practitioners and of course mingle with the Sangha, get involved with the events, group meditations etc. meditating on your own is great but once you get in the vihara, with other people and the ambience, its a differe...

Re: Buddhism & Business

Hi Ben Thanks for the feedback :) :thanks: Problem with pricing jobs is that there is always an "unknown" quantity in my line of work as one can never speculate as to the condition of cables hidden in wall/roof spaces. so to compensate, jobs are often over-priced to allow for such anomalie...

I have been practicing for 3 years now, still a lot to learn but try my best to be mindful during my day and stick to the precept...

Re: If the Buddha isnt a god then why do people pay respect him

Modern Buddhism, Theravada Buddhism, 2500 years of Buddhism, Original Buddhism, Buddhism in the modern Society,...can you tell me what is the core teaching of Buddhism? Why don't we have Arahants in Buddhism today and why Buddhism is different from Early Days from Buddha's time to today? What is th...

Re: How do you use audio sutta recordings?

We're steadily producing new sutta recordings at http://www.audtip.org/ . Ven. Ānandajoti recorded many important long suttas (of his own translations from the Pali) dealing with meditation here http://www.ancient-buddhist-texts.net/Audio/AU-index.htm . And suttareadings.net has a nice collection o...
