Whosoever serves the sick...

Hi everybody, I'm trying to find the canonical source of a great story that I heard cited in a Dhamma talk. There's a version of it on buddhanet.net: One day the Buddha visited a monastery. While he was there he came across a chamber where a monk lay in great pain caused by a loathsome disease. Alth...

Gratitude passage

I read an article where the Buddha was quoted as saying something like, "One without gratitude has no wisdom."

Can someone help me find the sutta that this passage comes from?

Re: Ajahn Chah biography in Portuguese

Que legal! Nem imaginei que houvesse uma biografia do Ajahn Chah no português...é uma tradução do texto inglês, ou uma obra original? Bem, muito obrigado...o melhor presente de todos é o do Dhamma!

Cambodian celebrations around this time of year

Hi all, I stopped by the wat in town last Sunday and was surprised to find it packed with people and with maybe five or six monks I had never seen before (the wat only has one permanent monastic resident.) I'm not aware of there being any special observance around this time. Does anyone have any ide...

Re: Chant for offering food

Thank you, Chris! That pointed me in the right direction. For anyone else who's interested, here are the gāthā I could find; as far as I know, the diacritics are accurate. Āhāra Pūjā (offering food) Adhivāsetu no bhante Bhojanaṃ parikappitaṃ Anukampaṃ upādāya Patiganhātu muttama. Paṇiya Pūjā (offeri...

Chant for offering food

Hi everybody!

I was curious to know what the gāthā recited when offering food are...I can't find it in Gunaratana''s vandanā book. Any help would be much appreciated, especially if the source includes the appropriate diacritics!

Blessings,
Clayton

Cambodian traditions to be aware of

Hi everybody!

I just found out that there's a Cambodian wat in my town, and I'm planning to go and pay my respects. Are there any cultural preferences or expectations I should be aware of that may be particular to Cambodian bhikkhus? I would hate to offend anyone.

Object pronouns

Hi all, I need some help with Pāḷi object pronouns In the case of a line like " Etena sacca vajjena - sotthi me hotu sabbadā, " which I see written in my chanting guides, I understand that me is the pronoun corresponding to the English "me" -- in other words, the object pronoun i...

Re: What is this chanting style?

I'm wondering if it would be possible for me to record myself chanting and post the recordings on the forum to get feedback on style and diction... Also, I wanted to thank everyone here -- especially Bhante Dhammanando & Bhante Anandajoti for taking time out of what must be very busy schedules t...

Sutta Nipata Commentary

Hey all,

Any good English translations of the Sutta Nipata atthakatha? Can't seem to find it. I think the BPS only publishes the Pali.
