Having Trouble Finding a Thread
Hello Dhamma friends. Some time back I'm sure I saw a thread on Ven. Maha Boowa and his teaching on "citta as self". I thought his name was in the title and searched [boowa citta] but it said there was no match. [citta true self] brought up some results, but I'm sure they weren't was I'm l...

Re: vegetarian vs veganist
Pedro, There's a range of views on vegetarianism and veganism among Western Theravadins. Beginning before I was a Buddhist, I was a vegetarian and off-an-on vegan for about 30 years, and have been a "99% vegan" for about the last 5 or 6. I walk a fine line between respecting and acknowledg...

Re: printing a whole thread
Andre, Yes, I know about the print icon and how it converts the screen to a printer-friendly version. But the issue is the printing out of "whole threads", not "whole pages". I appreciate the present option, but I'm just noting, for me, a "whole thread" option would bet...

Re: printing a whole thread
As it is, it's only possible to print out one "web-page" at a time. If there are a lot (hundreds of pages), as there are in some threads, that can be a very tedious, so I think it'd be nice if entire threads could be printed with one click. Not that I'm complaining, just saying what would ...

Actually it was only after I read your post that I filled out mine .Digger wrote:To James regarding profile pages - for whatever reason most people (including me) don't put much info on their profile page. I will update mine to add more info. Maybe others will too.

Re: name rank and serial number
I agree we shouldn't judge the truth or value of a member's comments on Dhamma by certain credentials, but it would be convenient to have some brief encapsulation of his Dhamma approach, other interests, basic life philosophy, a website, his or her blog, favorite blogs, etc.,in case we might want to...

Re: Saying "I am a Buddhist"
There are SOME labels, that SOME people, feel it is RIGHT, NECESSARY and DESIRABLE to call themselves. Punk. Straight-Edge. Feminist. Environmentalist. Vegan. Christian. Muslim. Liberal. Conservative. I'm not entirely sure why, psychologically, this is so. Nor can I explain or justify it philosophic...

Re: Saying "I am a Buddhist"
Pragmatically, why not call myself a Buddhist? It succinctly conveys what I'm committed to, value and respect.

Re: Talking to New Age/Western buddhists
Alan, At one time I think I felt like you about this. I felt a need to challenge those with a New Age approach to Buddhism. But as time went on, I realized that trying to do so only brought conflict and ill feeling. I also realized how much further I had to walk on the path, how enormous was my own ...

Re: Monks' & Nuns' names
I was thinking of this just the other day. What would really embarrass and conflict me is if I were given the same name as a very prominent monk. It would make me feel very awkward, and worry that the prominent monk would feel the same way, or even resentful (even if he tried not to be), thinking I ...

Is the "Save" Button Working?
I wrote a rough draft of a comment and decided to save it and edit it for later. But when I pressed "Save" the whole message just seemed to disappear. I then went to my profile page and found something like "manage your files" and when I checked my "drafts" it said I ha...

Re: Could We Have Printable Versions?
Mike, Hope I don't sound like I'm fussing, but although I like the compactness of the printable versions, there doesn't seem to be any way to distinguish between the quotes and the current reply or comment. Would it be possible to indent them, or use a different font? It would be nice if the layout ...
