That was an interesting read. Has there been any public response from leaders in the Theravada community?
Best wishes,
Jeff

Re: How do you know you are ready to ordain for life?
Hi Soeun,
It sounds like you have a good plan. I would add that just in case you find you don't fit in at this monastery, make sure you keep yourself free of obstacles to ordination (e.g. debt, a family), that way you can ordain swiftly when you do feel ready.
Kind regards,
Jeff

Thanks Pilgrim.
Is there any centre you would recommend in particular? I'm looking to do a short (18 day) samatha retreat in late January.
Best wishes,
Jeff

Re: Afraid of completely letting go
Mettafuture, A few years ago I also was inclining towards ordination, but partly due to fears that I wasn't ready did not do so. Now I am working to clear a debt so I can finally take the plunge. I would say that the opportunity to ordain is very rare, if you have the inclination and meet the requir...

Visiting Na Uyana Aranya
I am hoping to visit Na Uyana Aranya this November to see whether it would be a suitable place for ordination, but I don't know the procedure to arrange this. Do I need to write a letter of request to the monastery? Is it possible to make arrangements over the phone? Any information would be appreci...

Does anyone have a link about the meditation practises at Wat Ambhavan? Can westerners ordain there?

Re: Malaysia Visa
Hi Ben, Malaysia is a little different, since it is a majority Muslim country. The centre cannot sponsor me for a visa, and I don't even know if they've had other westerners train there. If I can't make it to Malaysia, I may end up joining you in Burma next year. Can I ask to which centre you are pl...

Malaysia Visa
I know it's a long shot, but does anyone have any ideas on how to get a long-term visa for Malaysia? The monastery at which I would like to train is unable to sponsor me for one.
Thanks for the help,
Jeff

Hi from KSA
Hi everyone, I've been reading Dhamma Wheel for about 7 months now, since meeting a couple of members a Dhammagiri monastery in Brisbane. The reason I decided to start posting is because I currently live in Saudi Arabia and am trying to stay connected with other Dhamma practitioners as much as possi...
