Re: the great vegetarian debate

It seems to be a very self-orientated study. But such studies need to be sold, so they would not find costumers if they are not self-orientated. That is why Dhamma is for free but we still trust in what we buy.

So no similes beside of those mentioned in the text, that's ok if that is the meaning needs to be understood. Sorry for violating a rule, I was not aware in regard of this context.

Re: The Aṭṭhakavagga – Pali, with English Translation

Manas, (neither to take away a much better answer, nor to give the feeling of ignoring a question) I guess that's a matter of "mundane" and "higher" eightfold path, while we need to establish the mundane (the first turning - stream enter) first. In regard of the duplication of th...

Re: Being nobody (General)

I didn't know that there is a "general Being nobody" maybe somebody likes to explain the idea and why such things led to a split (of a topic)?

Re: Being nobody

...while riding a car and opening the refrigerator ;-) I guess that is the main different between some "Zen-cultures" and the message. Nobody is not something that we should imagine, but a result of dis-delusion. We easily can maintain a damm putting two valve in it and connect them with a...

Re: Regarding rebirth and anatta

Coming into being. Are you? Buddha (according to the canon) once pointed out, even if there would be no rebirth, you would have lead a blameless live for your own welfare and the welfare of others. One, if he does not find a good access to a rebirth because he likes to take things very unpersonalize...

Re: Entheogens and Buddhism

It's a fundamental question: "Do I like to follow the teachings of the Buddha or should I try to find a way around it." Actually the advices of the Buddha are very simple and don't have any gap, the only gaps are just in one's own self honesty (in regard of intentions) So when you forget a...

Being nobody (General)

Some teachers, especially those of the Thai Forest Traditions, emphasise an attitude that is characterised by "being nobody, going nowhere" over getting to this or that stage or attainment. While I recognise, with the teaching of Anatta and Anicca in mind, that this is ultimately true, I ...

Re: Regarding rebirth and anatta

So why you are saying it? Your cultural and religious milieu? So there's a tension in the Buddha's recommendations about faith and empiricism. I've discussed this point with many Asian Buddhists, and few of them find the tension uncomfortable. But Western Buddhists, raised in a culture where religio...

Re: Hen eggs are 99.99% not alive

You know, actually all life dies and there is plenty of food as long there is place for live, but we don't like ugly food, death things and we have much fear that it might not die. So most killing comes form fear, for storage, from making food looking beautiful. That goes on, as long as we look for ...

Re: what is the relevence of eating before noon?

That's just another runaway. Jason, be patient with you and take care of your responsibilities first but when ever your responsibilities are gone (or realized as excuse and not real responsibilities but just greed) be careful to take no more other. We love responsibilities to give us a reason for st...

Re: Right way to cultivate Right Intention?

Starter, from my understanding "being resolved freedom from ill-will" is the factor which goes direct against delusion, while renunciation goes against greed (lobha), and harmlessness goes against hatred (dosa), freedom from ill-will goes against deadlocked views (moha), struggle and posit...

Re: what is the relevence of eating before noon?

hey hanzze, the heaven i am referring to is what i have come to understand as the christian heaven, very different from the buddhist heavenly realms. this misunderstanding is what i believe to be the cause of all the confusions amongst people of different religions(buddhists included). buddhist hea...
