Re: My girlfriend

Thank you Ben. I did see that documentary ages ago, but will watch it again now - from a very different point of view obviously. My plan is to be more open about my relationship with buddhism now and my girlfriend is slowly coming to terms with that. Also obviously I must respect what the doctors ar...

Re: My girlfriend

The doc tentatively diagnosed with bipolar. I think for now the best thing is to just focus on feeling better - the four noble truths, what causes suffering, etc.

With best wishes

My girlfriend

Friends. I am going through a very difficult time. I feel my relationship with my girlfriend can't survive. I tried to tell her this morning but she wouldn't accept it. I feel like I just want to focus on dhamma and I told her this. I have had mental health issues in the past, and feel like I am goi...

Re: Online teachers

Hi Rowyourboat, To answer your question - just bad habits I think. In particular when online (so maybe that is a sign that an 'online' teacher wouldn't be the way to go). Maybe because I work with computers, I have a tendency to let my fingers take over. This has landed me in 'trouble' on facebook, ...

Re: Online teachers

Thanks Cittasanto My main motivation for wanting a teacher is that I am finding it more difficult to maintain harmlessness (e.g. wrong speech), and I am wishing for some guidance on finding my life's "mission" (for want of a better word). However I am open to the idea that maybe just medit...

Online teachers

Hi Can anyone recommend a teacher who accepts students for an online relationship, or is this not a good idea (ie should it be face to face)? I feel I am at a point in my practice where I would like (need?) to have a good teacher. Also how would one go about asking to be a teacher's student? I have ...

Re: Thanisarro Bhikku - Metta Chant

Thanks all for your kindness. I have downloaded the files and will listen to them tomorrow. Chanting seems a good way to develop a wholesome mind, especially when the meaning of the verses are reflected upon, and metta is currently an important focus in my practice.

Devas v Asuras

Hello all,

Can anyone explain, or preferably reference a sutta which explains, the difference between devas and asuras?

:thanks:
