Re: Retreat, Meditation and Monastery review website!
[...] Hi Rob, I added Yuttadhammo's meditation centre, however, even though I selected 'Visitor', I was listed as the retreat owner when submitting the retreat. Cheers. Thanks Samseva. Don't worry about being seeing yourself as the retreat owner, that is just the draft. We can see from the applicat...

Re: Retreat, Meditation and Monastery review website!
Hi Samseva Thank you for taking the time to give such detailed feedback and apologies in the lateness of the reply. Yes, the cart icon is a bit of an eye sore and might create the wrong impression. I have removed it from the homepage and now only appears when someone clicks on the "Retreat Sto...

Re: Retreat, Meditation and Monastery review website!
... Hi Rob, I reread my posts and I don't necessarily understand everything I wrote due to them being from some time ago. Matching everything with the website would take a long time, which I don't really have. If you want, you could tell me all the changes you made, or if you already know what I wr...

Re: Where can i go meditate, read the suttas, etc
Amaravati or Chithurst are both a good bet, both established monasteries so not too much outside work and activities. They have their silent winter retreat from Jan-March, so I am not sure whether you can visit or stay during this period. Best email the guest monks at various places. Good luck With ...

Re: Retreat, Meditation and Monastery review website!
Hi there Thank you for your reply and I have taken on board some of the things that you have suggested. I have created a page, see https://www.reviewmyretreat.com/types-of-retreat/ which explains the categorization. I am not sure why there would be a category called Buddhist - Eastern as in every ea...

Re: Retreat, Meditation and Monastery review website!
Adding 'Buddhist - Eastern', as well as 'Thailand' to the boxes at the center of the page would be great. Also, I don't know exactly who is your most intended audience, but maybe it would be good to prioritize the boxes as well. Hi Samseva Thank you for your feedback. Thailand is already on there u...

Re: Retreat, Meditation and Monastery review website!
Hi Guys Just a quick note to say that I have uploaded quite a few more monasteries and retreat centers(in the Theravada tradition) about 40 at the moment. So if you need a resource for monasteries, then feel free to check out: https://www.reviewmyretreat.com Adding 'Buddhist - Eastern', as well as ...

Re: Where to experience monastic life in North America
All the Ajahn Chah monasteries will abide strictly to the Vinaya.
Dhammayut monasteries also generally follow very strict vinaya too. Not sure about the other ones.
Good luck on your search.

Re: Looking at finding a monastery
Hi Samseva Thank you very much for your feedback, some good tips. :console: You are right about the cart icon, I have removed it from the front page and it only appears in the back pages now when a user is logged in. I initially had a page called "How it works" with a question and answer f...

Re: Looking at finding a monastery
Thanks meditator 54 for posting a review, hopefully in time I can add all the Buddhist meditative monasteries where people can ordain or lay people can meditate. But if anyone wants to add places that they have been to, then please do so(you dont have to be the owner of the retreat in order to list ...

Re: Looking at finding a monastery
Hi there I am intrigued how the monastery was? I used to know Bhante Jag when I was a monk in Sri Lanka and I am delighted to see how well he is doing. I have set up a website for monasteries and so people can review them when they have stayed at a place. If you have the time I would be really grate...

Re: renamed::: help finding monastery???
Best thing to do is to travel around and what the places are like yourself. Everyone has an opinion and I would not recommend just going to a monastery with the view to ordain there without looking at other places. Otherwise when things are not going well when you ordain at the monastery, you will s...

Re: Retreat, Meditation and Monastery review website!
HI Bhante Lucky Great name by the way and thank you for the feedback. I have fixed it now so that emails shouldn't go to spam and the login is fixed too. Logging in using one's social login is usually much quicker process but let me know if you have any more problems or any feedback. All gratefully ...

Re: Retreat, Meditation and Monastery review website!
Sure, reading the suttas is a very wholesome way of spending one's time but going on retreat is putting the theory to practice. I am hoping to list as many monasteries and donation only meditation centers(granted there aren't many in the west other than Goenka and co) so a traveler can monastery/med...
