Re: conspiracy theory threads

I agree, conspiracy theories promote negativity and seem to take up peoples lives in unwholesome ways. I have seen this with family members and its just tiresome and sad. Thanks for this thread Tilt.

Re: the great vegetarian debate

Attached to my views, maybe. Still If you want to stop farm animals from being butchered stop eating meat. You are a part of the killing chain, if you eat meat, deal with it.

Re: the great vegetarian debate

I don't care what anyone says. If you buy meat you share in the kamma of the farmer who raised the animal for consumption. A farmer does not keep livestock for kicks, they do not grow on speculation, they grow for demand, you stop buying they stop producing end of story. All of you are eel wriggling...

Re: Concerning Kearney's "Development of Insight"

You are right Cooran, you are Kearny's only student, but you are wrong if you think only Nana has trouble with Kearny and his ilk.

Kind regards

Thanks Nana for your heroic efforts in this thread, particularly when you come up against some of Kearny's students.

Re: Does illegal downloading violate the 2nd precept?

Did anybody here make copies in the 1980's or 90's using cassete or VHS tape? I hope not. Three Hail Mary's and two Our Father Who Art in Heaven's for all the Buddhist stone casters in the crowd.

Hello gingercatni I think you have hit the nail on the head. I have strayed all over the buddhist landscape in the last twenty years, but when it gets right down to it there is really nothing more compassionate out there than the path layed out by the Buddha. It offers anyone the opportunity to lead...

The world is impermanent, yes thanks for pointing that out Poto. Now how about addressing human induced climate change. Is extreme the new normal? the science suggests to me that it is.

Re: Extreme is the New Normal

Alex Take a look at the link Kim provided for you. Your numbers are as Alan said irrelevant to the issue of human induced climate change. Do you really think that people on this board and the scientific community are not aware that there have been huge swings in the earth's climate throughout histor...

Alex

Did you look at the link Kim provided? I think it might be worth your time, your graphs and figures are irrelevant to what we are currently dealing with which is human induced climate change.

Cheers

Hi Blackbird Have you come across Jeffery Rubin's ideas regarding peak oil. His take is that we are indeed rapidly running out of cheap easily accessed oil, but that there is alot of oil out there in places like Alberta and Venezuela in the form of tar sands. It will be expensive to mine and oil wil...
