perceptually dissociated from the body, to pathological degrees. Sorry can you explain this, do you mean that they are blind to its unattractive aspects? I mean that most modern people are barely conscious that there is a body ... and have next to no idea how it works below the surface, how diet af...

Re: Contemplation of the Body Isnt it Wonderful:)

I think it should be much more popular Imo, the reason it doesn't resonate with modern Western / Westernized people is that they aren't particularly enchanted with the body ... in fact, nearly all modern people are perceptually dissociated from the body, to pathological degrees. They are enchanted ...

Re: Is progress possible in insight meditation without temporarily altered vision?

I have been practicing to lessen and end suffering, not to have some experience of the instability of matter. ... Perhaps seeing the instability of matter is a wonderful way to lessen suffering and it is just my own misconceptions that are causing me to feel that this is not something I would want....

Re: supernormal powers

Well take it fwiw this are my personal beliefs, Ever since meditative attainment i seem to occasionally know intuitively about things that happen away from me but will affect me as stress. One time i saw a dream where i was told i was going to crash, next day i lose consciousness. Several times ive...

Re: Karmic Result of Starting a Beauty/Modeling Company?

Its all about exploitation or not ... economic exploitation is a form of enslavement. No it's not. You've got it backwards. Exploitation is not a form of enslavement....enslavement is a form of exploitation. chownah Agreed. There is a tendency to present things we disagree with in the worst possibl...

Re: Karmic Result of Starting a Beauty/Modeling Company?

If you are right then when I hire someone to help me harvest rice it is the same thought process as enslaving them. Someone is confused here and I'll let eveyone decide for themselves who it is. chownah If you hire only very poor people who only know how to harvest rice who have no other employment...

The many regional variations of this multilevel multifaceted mnemotechnical language and corresponding social / moral code, dating back tens of thousands of years, wasn't supernatural religion. Re: Karmic Result of Starting a Beauty/Modeling Company?

There's a fine line between renting / trapping and buying / enslaved No there isn't. The "line" seperating these things is not fine. The differences between these things are only confused by those who are easily confused. chownah Nope, they both arise from exactly the same patterns of tho...

Re: Are divine senses necessary for enlightenment and/or insight?

I forget which one, but an accomplished dharma / dhamma teacher wrote something to the effect of: "During the early stages of practice I saw just a mountain, as I progressed I saw the mountain as the illusion it is, and then later I once again saw just a mountain." He then went on to talk ...

Re: does eating a human brain destroy one's credibility as a religous scholar?

Can you take such a man's apologetics in favor of Islam seriously? ... “I am Muslim not because I think Islam is ‘truer’ than other religions (it isn’t), but because Islam provides me with the ‘language’ I feel most comfortable with in expressing my faith.” (Reza Aslan) [...] Aslan’s Leftist CNN re...

Re: does eating a human brain destroy one's credibility as a religous scholar?

As some may know, Reza Aslan who is a some-time apologist for Islam, a CNN contributer, and so-called scholar on religion, has a new show about world religions on CNN, and in a recent episode desperate for ratings he met with an obscure little cannibal group in India and ate a human brain. He comme...

Dhammapada 2:1 or verse Dhammapada verse 21 in the running verse numbers: Mindfulness is the way to the Deathless; unmindfulness is the way to Death. Those who are mindful do not die; those who are not mindful are as if already dead. The commentary to the translation here says: amata: lit., no deat...

If you're assisting women to be human mannequins for consumer goods so they can make a living ... then its fine (in the absence of a critical analysis of consumer culture, the role it plays in the destruction of the thin layer of life here in Earth, and the directly related extinction of 150k speci...

Re: Karmic Result of Starting a Beauty/Modeling Company?

Nothing to explain. Intention to objectify beautiful women for men's pleasure is not basically human trafficking.....it is not human trafficking at all. Human trafficking is the business of buying and selling people who have been enslaved....you know; slavery. chownah The vast majority of young wom...
