Actually no, that didn't work. There were indeed about 3000 results, but they were all for the same 4 talks.

Have you heard any good dhamma talks on Depression?
Have you heard any good dhamma talks regarding depression? I looked on dharmaseed, and I get only four hits for the keyword "depression". I remember Ajahn Brahm has a couple, and I have already listened to them, so I'm looking for talks from other teachers. Many thanks in advance for any l...

Re: Following Ajahn Brahm: Focus on the experience of the br
This is directly from Brahm's meditation instructions: When you focus on the breath, you focus on the experience of the breath happening now . You experience `that which tells you what the breath is doing', whether it is going in or out or in between. Some teachers say to watch the breath at the ti...

Good luck, and don't push too hard!
I have found pushing too hard to be my biggest challenge.
I'll follow your updates with interest.

Aha, thankyou, I wondered why they put those big steel bars on there.ancientbuddhism wrote: The abbot, Ajahn Nyanadhammo then, placed heavy steel bars across the body to prevent it from sitting up due to contractions from the heat.

Re: Watching a body burn on an open pyre
Every time I go on Pilgrimage, I go on a short boat ride at the Burning Ghats at Varanasi, where there are many bodies burned each day. There is accommodation nearby for those who are very elderly, or who know they are dying, to wait. All wish to be "cremated" at this place which is very ...

Watching a body burn on an open pyre
Recently in Thailand I was lucky enough to see a body being burned on an open cremation pyre. It is the first time I have seen such a thing. I have been to many funerals and seen lots of peaceful dead good-looking bodies, but never like this. In western countries we are so insulated from death, and ...

Re: he International Dhammadayada Training & Ordination Prog
I met a young western bhikkhu who had done this programme. He said in the 4 months he was there in this programme as a naive beginner monk, he never once read a sutta. It was all secondary Dhammakaya material they studied. He said bhikkhus interested in the actual teaching of the buddha were activel...

For all those interested in the legality and legitimacy of the Bhikkhunis, have a read of this. It's only 30 pages or so, and it turns out there are at least two legal ways to ordain a new bhikkhuni, one involving nuns, and one involving bhikkhus. http://blogs.dickinson.edu/buddhistethics/files/2013...

Re: What will be your last thought in this life?
The time I almost died, my last thought as I hurtled through the air, my motorcycle sliding beside me, before I thankfully missed the steel pole was; "oops that was a mistake. What a pity."
I wasn't a buddhist then, and I wonder if it would be different now.

Re: Pants for stay at a monastery.
Most comfy, practical and useful pants I ever had at the monastery: military surplus M-65 pants, in black tropical weight fabric. Comfy, quite baggy with lots of room for sitting, hard wearing, black to hide the dirt, and millions of pockets. I'd still be using them if I could get them in tropical-w...
