Re: advice on realtionships and buddhism

thank you for all the replies :) and Aloka for the sutta references. @ Antbrown, thankyou for your advice. Although, I am still trying to understand how to have sexual relations, but without having desires for the 'body' etc. It seems appropriate to say I even feel 'lust'. Something in me just tells...

advice on realtionships and buddhism

Hi all, About a year ago I became involved in a relationship, which also sparked a dis-interest for buddhist practice. Anyway, my practice suffered and I was no longer meditating every day... which eventually turned into not meditating for weeks or months. Now, 1 year on I would really like to get b...

uplifting practice.

Hi all, Just thought I would share my experience to any of those who feel like they're becoming a little absent during practice. For a little while I was experiencing a little lethargy in my attitude towards dhamma practice, just doing the same thing over and over. Today I went for a little jog, to ...

Re: breath coming and going

@ Goofaholix Yeah, I thought it may have been the case, just wanted to see if I was doing anything contrary to established practices. @Daverupa The method I use involves me sitting on a meditation cushion, then I usually do a bit of a body scan/check at the beginning of the sit, and then shift to br...

Re: breath coming and going

p.s. this seems to always happen in my meditation as of late that when my breath gets to certain point of refinement it bounces back. Has anyone else experienced this? So what's the problem? If awareness is mostly continuous and is aware of whatever is really happening then you're doing it right. W...

Re: breath coming and going

This from Ajahn Chat may be helpful to you: You are at your ease and the mind is free from all external objects. Awareness remains with the breath and over time it will penetrate deeper and deeper inside, becoming progressively more refined. Ultimately, awareness of the breath becomes so refined th...

breath coming and going

Hi, I have noticed in my meditation that when my breath becomes subtle and becomes hard to identify as breath, that the awareness of 'my breath has gone' brings back the breath. I know that the breath can be hard to identify when it becomes more refined, but should this be developed? If so, how can ...

Re: Torn between two worlds

Thanks for all the replies  If you're hanging out with people who could care less about the Dhamma, then I can see why you'd feel torn between two worlds, greeneggsandsam. Maybe find some new friends? If you don't want to do this, then don't beat yourself up too much. If you're following the ...

Torn between two worlds

Hi Dhamma friends, I have been feeling an imbalance between two worlds, which two? The world of dhamma and the world of samsara. The problem is I feel this constant tug of war between the two. I live in a western country, which entails western society and friends of a 22 year old, most westerners pe...

Re: A meditation I've been doing

I have enough problems following the breath already as it is. No need to make the practice more difficult then it already is. My two cents.

Re: Omnipotent and Omniscient God: Do we really have free wi

Ok say we cannot act differently from how god already knows does that then infer that we have not made that choice independently? It implies that, since God created with full knowledge, God created "independent choice" which is a contradiction. The moment of creating choice would be the m...

Re: Omnipotent and Omniscient God: Do we really have free wi

? In response to this statement my family member had this to say: Just because 'god' knows that doesn't mean it is predetermined. What would you argue in response to this? You family member is not addressing the point, which is: How can we act differently from how god already knows we are going to ...
