Re: Wat Dhammakaya
Kumara, I'm not sure if I can convince any of them to write firstly, in English, and secondly, in an international Forum. They are not the "international" type of people. Most of them are elderlies and have spent quite some time with Wat Dhammakaya before their eyes were "opened."...

Re: Is the Buddhasasana really in decline?
We learn from Abhidhamma texts, which summarised the essential teachings from the Suttas. We don't study directly from the Suttas. But I'll try to ask my teachers what the exact Sutta is.

Re: The Arahant and pain
As far as I understand an Arahant experiences pleasant, painful, and neutral feelings born of eye contact ... through ... body contact, but am not sure about mind contact. Does an arahant feel painful feelings born of mind contact? Or does he feel only pleasant feelings born of mind-contact? Or doe...

Re: Anger, enraged
I have a habit of smashing things when I am angry. This morning, I was so angry, I went into a rage and smashed things. I have had this habit now for years and years. Usually it is my parents that upset me, and this time it is no different. They altered my life course as an adult, and made me live ...

Re: Is the Buddhasasana really in decline?
It is said that in the time of the Buddha thousands of monks, nuns and lay followers attained the four stages of enlightenment. It is obviously not allowed for a monk or nun to declare their attainments, so we do not know the current number of enlightened Buddhists. However it seems to me that this...

Re: Wat Dhammakaya
Dear friends, Is anyone familiar with Wat Dhammakaya in Thailand or it's off shoots worldwide, including either of the two in the UK, I noticed it also has DMC TV, which looks quite interesting. I have heard mixed reports about the temple and it's web site appears to be, well eh, rather comercial. ...

Re: IVF
Hi Suwapan What about identical twins? Hi SarathW' I'm sorry for not replying. As for the twin individuals, they might have done the following: 1) Made vows to be together "forever," out of intense love and affection. 2) Or, they could be enemies, and one of them had vowed to follow the o...

Re: Defilements vs purity
All: I was reading over some posts concerning the kilesas yesterday and noticed, again, that there is something about the formulation of this concept that bugs me. I hadn't quite thought it through before but now I realize what the issue is. When we speak of something being "defiled", it ...

Re: Tips on being mindful?
Hi everyone! Lately I've been having a little bit of trouble when it comes to be mindful. It seems like my mind rather think/makes plan of my hobbies (like playing games and programming) than staying in the present, and it makes my bus-meditation sessions a lilttle bit tough hahaha xD Last year I h...

Re: Dog was killed...
I'm really sorry that this had to happen, Kasina. I recently lost my cat. It came to me as a black male kitten from the street. It became the cleverest and most loyal animal I've ever known. It greeted me the moment I rise from my bed; it slept beside me every night, it rubbed its head against mine ...

Re: Anapanasati Meditation and Insight (Vipassana) meditatio
Hello, I am practising Buddha's teaching but I dont have access to Sangha in my country. I know basic Anapanasati Meditation (Observation of Breath-in and Breath-out) . I want to know how to proceed to Vipassana (Insight Meditation) starting from Anapanasati ?. Can this knowledge of Vipassana Medit...

Re: Mental factors in the Abhidhamma
Hello Suwapan, In which currently published book are these chapter you refer to? I have been looking for a hard copy book of Nina Van Gorkom's Cetasikas , but, alas, it is no longer in print and only available in eformat. Any other suggestions of hard copy books? Thanks, Jeff Jeff, Apologies for la...

Re: Mental factors in the Abhidhamma
It's great to learn of other fellow Abhidhamma students! I started reading Bhikkhu Bodhi's translation of the Sangaha and found the excellent text by Nina van Gorkom ( http://www.budsas.org/ebud/nina-abhidhamma/nina-abhi-00.htm ), her book "Cetasikas", and this website ( http://www.access...

Re: Death and Separation
How do you all feel about separation at death from your loved ones? I am so sad and frightened for the deaths that I have to face in the future ( my own and my relatives)..... It is easy to think about someone else's funeral etc, but when it happens to you, it is hard to deal with, specially ...
