Re: Lust

I have already posted this in a different thread but I think the same response suits here also. Please read the following carefully. This is a theoretical answer. Lust is a defilement of the mind which has a powerful magnetic potential to deviate one from the path. Most people including myself are a...

Re: There is no fire like lust

Lust is a defilement of the mind which has a powerful magnetic potential to deviate one from the path. Most people including myself are affected by this. Im also trying to find a way out. So far this is most of what I know. There are 2 types of meditations recommended by the Buddha to 'dissolve and ...

Re: Should one try to convert non-Buddhists?

'Converting' (as most people would say) a person is alright provided the person who is prepared to listen is interested. The word 'conversion' is a loaded word and it could even imply methods which are usually associated with Abrahamic cultures. The Buddhist way of 'conversion' is a lot different fr...

Re: Deciding to be a Monk or Layman

Dear Indian_buddhist, As laypeople we laugh, we cry, we go for jobs, earn some money, get married, have children and watch them grow up, enjoy ourselves, travel around the world, go to the cinema, go clubbing etc etc. We are involved in this big drama which we call ‘life’. But to wear an orange robe...

Re: Hello! I am Buddhistboy

Homage to the Buddha,

With the help of David (The Admin) my username was changed from 'Buddhistcleric' to 'Buddhistboy'.
I dont think anyone will find a problem with this username.
Hopefully when I become a priest I can start using 'Buddhistcleric' again (That was a joke).

Re: Hello! I am Buddhistcleric

Im trying to change it, but it seems I cant. My email [email protected] which I opened up many years back. So I thought it was appropriate to have the same username in Dhamma Wheel. Had I seen these sorts of responses coming my way I would have never used this username.

Re: Hello! I am Buddhistcleric

Homage to the Triratna The username 'Buddhistcleric' is nothing more than just a username. Thats why I use the term as 'Buddhistcleric' rather than 'Buddhist cleric'. I made myself clear during my introduction that I am a layman so that others wont misunderstand. And yes dear venerable sir I have ch...

Re: Dhamma propagation - most effective form?

When it comes to propagation of Buddhism there are two levels. The first is at a personal / individual level. The latter is at a more organizational level. I have outlines certain strategies. The first three points are at a personal level. I am sure the strategies which I have mentioned are being us...
