Hello and a big smile to you all!
I'm Fran and I'm from deepest darkest West Yorkshire, in the north of the UK. Pleased to meet you all.
I view this site often, and have found the commentaries and discussions to be of tremendous benefit to my Dhamma practice - I thank you all.
I've been practising for 11 years now, initially doing what Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche termed 'spiritual shopping'. I sat with many groups and lineages, including the Nichiren school (SGI), Triratna (Sangarakshita), Gelugpa and Soto Zen (Suzuki Roshi). All Mahayana schools and as a result of flitting over the years, whilst I learned a lot and developed in many ways, I believe I overdosed on 'too many methods and rituals'.
So I decided to go right back to the 'old school' after re-reading the Dhammapada and a number of Abhidhamma Suttas. I am sitting regularly with a Samatha teacher now, have a daily practice and this week will sit Goenkaji Vipassana (10 days). Therevada has felt like a homecoming for me after years of searching.
I am so glad and grateful to be here with you all.
With Metta,
Fran
