A bow and a smile

I have been a devoted practitioner for some 13 years now. Living in a small north-central Alberta town in Canada, I have never had a local sangha. I began with on-line connections, moved onto taking part in retreats that were available in a nearby city, and eventually to making winter visits to Birken Monastery in B.C. This last fall I took the plunge and have been engaged in beginning a local sitting group. Members are mostly beginners, but I have a strong grounding in the Theravada tradition and consider that my "home". I hope to be able to engage in conversations and discussions here with others who are committed to this path and this tradition. By strengthening my own practice, I feel I best serve others, especially, right now, those new meditators attending the local group.
