Konnichiwa from Japan!

Post by the other shore »

Hello! My name is Jesse, I am an American yoga instructor living and teaching in Japan. I have been practicing Theravada buddhist meditation, as well, for about 8 years. I have lived in Japan for about four and a half years, and intend to go back to America in the fall of 2014 to begin work on a PhD in medical anthropology. I will be studying the ways in which meditation and ritual can have use as therapy in western clinical settings.

I am interested in the ways in which Buddhism, yoga, science and culture, intersect and have created my website for anyone who wants to participate in such dialogue: http://www.theothershore.org
It is still new so I am looking for members now who would be willing to participate, add content and give feedback. Please check it out :)

Have a nice day!

Greetings and welcome to Dhamma Wheel!
“No lists of things to be done. The day providential to itself. The hour. There is no later. This is later. All things of grace and beauty such that one holds them to one's heart have a common provenance in pain. Their birth in grief and ashes.”
- Cormac McCarthy, The Road

Learn this from the waters:
in mountain clefts and chasms,
loud gush the streamlets,
but great rivers flow silently.

Wow! Thank you guys for your warm welcome. I'd appreciate it if you could stop by my site and get involved. Once I have a decent amount of people contributing, I plan to do interviews and host various kinds of events, like online discussions and interviews with experts doing work related to yoga and Buddhism. These will be free, of course. You can also follow me on twitter and Facebook:

Peace out. I'm looking forward to learning a lot from this awesome website!
