So, I am registering here on Christmas Day... :candle:

I am from Finland and I had account here years ago, but I have forgotten username and all. I didn't write many messages anyway!

I was Buddhist many years, but I left it around year ago. This autumn I started to meditate again and I saw benefits quickly again. That made me reconsider Buddhism again. I read books that inspired me to Buddhism in the first place and I realized that I had "missed the point" during the years. I had committed studying philosophy much more than practice.

Anyway, I am returning back to practice. I am not necessarily Buddhist yet, just giving a new chance to Dharma.

Welcome to DW! Merry Christmas!
To avoid all evil, to cultivate good, and to cleanse one's mind — this is the teaching of the Buddhas.

:namaste:
Aflame with the fire of passion, the fire of aversion, the fire of delusion.
Aflame, with birth, aging & death, with sorrows, lamentations, pains, distresses, & despairs ......

Seeing thus, the disciple of the Noble One grows disenchanted. SN 35.28

Greetings and welcome to DW!
“No lists of things to be done. The day providential to itself. The hour. There is no later. This is later. All things of grace and beauty such that one holds them to one's heart have a common provenance in pain. Their birth in grief and ashes.”
- Cormac McCarthy, The Road

Learn this from the waters:
in mountain clefts and chasms,
loud gush the streamlets,
but great rivers flow silently.
- Sutta Nipata 3.725

Welcome!

:anjali:
The heart of the path is SO simple. No need for long explanations. Give up clinging to love and hate, just rest with things as they are. That is all I do in my own practice. Do not try to become anything. Do not make yourself into anything. Do not be a meditator. Do not become enlightened. When you sit, let it be. When you walk, let it be. Grasp at nothing. Resist nothing. Of course, there are dozens of meditation techniques to develop samadhi and many kinds of vipassana. But it all comes back to this - just let it all be. Step over here where it is cool, out of the battle. - Ajahn Chah

Hi again!

Was fun chatting to you in the chat room.

Unfettered at last, a traveling monk,
I pass the old Zen barrier.
Mine is a traceless stream-and-cloud life,
Of these mountains, which shall be my home?
