Hello from Fig Tree

Postby fig tree » Sat Jan 10, 2009 6:26 am

Hi,

I think it may have been a good time to create a forum like this one, and I thank the people responsible for getting it started up.

I'm a beginner. I'm a mathematician who takes an overly intellectual approach to many things. ;) I'm hopeful however that I can begin practicing more seriously in the near future, and contribute to the community here and elsewhere.

Greetings Fig Tree,

Lovely to see you here. I've always enjoyed reading your posts.

Metta,

If you have asked me of the origination of unease, then I shall explain it to you in accordance with my understanding:
Whatever various forms of unease there are in the world, They originate founded in encumbering accumulation. (Pārāyanavagga)

I have read this story many times in different forms. I think I read it for the first time as a teenager in a book from a non-Buddhist religious tradition, possibly even before I was aware that there was such a thing as Zen. It's a very popular story!

Good to see retro, bubba, and Ben here too.
