Namaste !

I just found this forum and I thought Id register.

About me : i come from a ( very ! ) mixed heritage background - which includes some Mongol heritage. Ive always felt drawn to the ''eastern'' part of my heritage and although i grew up in the UK - i never really felt British or western ( for lack of better terms ).

I converted to Hinduism a few years ago, although i did explore Buddhism in my early 20's when i studied martial arts - i could never really get my head around it.

Ive no idea why im suddenly interested in Buddhism again, i just feel drawn to it again. I do know that 2 years of hanging out in Hindu temples has helped me to understand Buddhism.. my friends would say that perhaps my attraction to Buddhism has something to do with my ancestors or past lives.. I dont really know either way...

I guess for now im just following my path and my instincts and seeing where it leads me..

I really know nothing about Therevada, but im keen to learn. I hope along the way though you will forgive my ignorance when asking questions...

Just a quickie... Hinduism often presents a very distorted picture of Buddhism. So don't be too surprised if stuff you think you know doesn't turn out to be so. :jawdrop: ;)

Yes, I would agree..... lay aside any pre-conceived ideas and possible misconceptions and listen to us experts.

(That was a joke.....)

Welcome to you, and enjoy your stay.

prolonged, I hope! ;)

Wait! -- is it your turn to be the expert this week? I thought it was mine. Never mind ... I should check the schedule more carefully.

Hello there newcomer! :) nice to see more UK people involved! Out of curiousity (and feel free to dismiss this question), roughly where in the UK are you from?
