pakow greets you, good forum

Postby Pakow Chris » Fri May 30, 2014 11:06 am

This forum has the ability to inspire and lift ones spirit. Thanks alot!

I'm a pakow (white clothed anagarika) from Norway living on 8 precepts in a forest monastery in Northern Thailand. Been doing so for the last seven months and my aspiration is to become a monk (in due time).

The Abbot here is very "modern" and lets me use smart phone to be connected to the net (of course not for the purpose of entertaining my kilesas (too much)).

You are a real resource! Thanks once again.

Welcome to Dhamma Wheel.

Retro. :)
“Delighting in existence O monks, are gods and men; they are attached to existence. they revel in existence. When the Dhamma for the cessation of existence is being preached to them, their minds do not leap towards it, do not get pleased with it, do not get settled in it, do not find confidence in it. That is how, monks, some lag behind … (It. p 43)”

The heart of the path is SO simple. No need for long explanations. Give up clinging to love and hate, just rest with things as they are. That is all I do in my own practice. Do not try to become anything. Do not make yourself into anything. Do not be a meditator. Do not become enlightened. When you sit, let it be. When you walk, let it be. Grasp at nothing. Resist nothing. Of course, there are dozens of meditation techniques to develop samadhi and many kinds of vipassana. But it all comes back to this - just let it all be. Step over here where it is cool, out of the battle. - Ajahn Chah

Cheers venerable and dhamma dudes! I believe Kåre, the Norwegian Pali expert, is contributing quite a lot on this board, yes.

@anagarika: that might well be an excellent way of getting to see more of the many beautiful monasteries around in this great region. PM me next time you're coming to thailand!
