My name is David, I live in the UK, and am married to Elaine. I am also vegetarian, & have been since December 2000. I’m very lucky really. Twice in my life, I’ve had serious health problems (life-threatening), but was looked after so well, by good and caring people and my health in recent years has been good.
Unfortunately, I’m not working at the moment. I was rather let-down by my employers. It was for a fixed term, and the training I was meant to have didn’t take place because my manager had a fall, ended up on crutches, and ended up on long term sick-leave. I was released from my contract early. This was unfortunate, but something of a blow. The job before that however, was not a happy story. Basically, I was psychologically bullied, and basically, hounded out. My self-confidence and self-esteem hit rock bottom, and are still very low. I’m trying now to put these two episodes behind me and get on with my life.
I have felt a closeness to Buddhism for about five or six years now. I've a lot to be thankful for, but unfortunately, due to stresses and the hecticness of life, and also, where I am (there not being many Buddhists around) it has been pushed to the side a bit. Reading what I have done about Buddhism, I have found it so strikes a chord with how I feel. To this end, it is good meeting like-minded people such as you all here. Finally, Bodiyaha is somewhere I’d love to visit one day, It must be so special there.
I'll finish here by saying I am so looking forward to getting to know you all.
Peace and Light
David
