greetings

Postby jacqueline » Fri Nov 27, 2009 5:59 pm

Hi. My name is Jacqueline and I teach Buddhism to mothers online and in person at: www.hearthfoundation.net I'm currently writing an article about the bhikkhuni ordination in Perth and am happy for any research data you can steer me towards. I'm aware of the basics but would like to learn more about the brave women who ordained, anything interesting about the actual ordination and any responses around the world. The interest of this article is to tell the story to the thousands of Buddhists in the West who are unaware of anything but the most basic aspects of the ordination. Thanks!http://www.dhammawheel.com/posting.php?mode=post&f=10#

hi Jaqueline,
there are some threads on here about the ordination just have a look around, sujatos blog would probably have the most amount of links or references to othe sites regarding information, but it would depend if you want ifo on the actual ordination or the actions around it?

Welcome and hope you have a good time here and find what you are looking for.
“Mendicants, these two [types of persons] defame the Tathāgata.
(The mendicants asked) What are the two [types of persons]?
(The Lord Buddha responded) The malicious, or the inwardly angry, and the one with (blind) faith or the one who holds things incorrectly.
Mendicants, these two [types of persons] defame the Tathāgata.”

What is the final conviction that comes when radical attention is razor-edge sharp? That the object of the mind is mind-made (manomaya). (Ven. Ñāṇananda)

Having understood name-and-form, which is a product of prolificity,
And which is the root of all malady within and without,
He is released from bondage to the root of all maladies,
That Such-like-one is truly known as 'the one who has understood'.
