:namaste: everybody,

I'm new to both this forum and Theravada Buddhism! I seeked refuge on the Duruthu Poya day last week, after serious thought and searching into all the world religions, and finally came to the conclusion that Buddhism was the only one that made sense to me :D Forgive me if I ask lots of questions on this forum :embarassed: !

My name is Jasmine, I'm 17 and am from London, but I currently live with my girlfriend in Wales to do my A levels :)

How about all of you? How long have you been Buddhists, etc? :)

Hi & welcome to Dhammawheel
:anjali:

He who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that. His reasons may be good, and no one may have been able to refute them.
But if he is equally unable to refute the reasons on the opposite side, if he does not so much as know what they are, he has no ground for preferring either opinion …
...
He must be able to hear them from persons who actually believe them … he must know them in their most plausible and persuasive form.

Hi Jasmine. :hello:

To practice is to know your defilements,
To attain the goal is to know and let go.

The two guys you were chatting to are ancient relics of Buddhism. I've been doin it for maybe a few years now. We have all kinds of people here.
