Hello there, I just have a quick suggestion regarding the Dana recommendations thread.
The Dana recommendations thread currently sits in the announcements section, where comparatively fewer people visit. I think it would be a very positive change to perhaps move it to the Theravada for the Modern World section - in fact, I think a sub-forum in that section for Dana and other compassionate Buddhist activities would be a great addition. An "Engaged Buddhism" section so to speak, although that's a more Mahayana term. As it is, I don't know if there exists a good place for many of those topics; creating a section for them might be an idea to look into.
Perhaps reorienting Theravada for the Modern World into a more "Buddhism in Action" forum would be a good idea. I only recommend this because as of now I don't see a huge division between that forum and the General Theravada discussion forum in terms of what is discussed. I think this forum lacks a clear spot currently for discussions and threads regarding these issues. In my opinion, bringing some of the general Theravada stuff out from the Modern World section and dedicating the Modern World section to a more "Practicing Buddhism in Today's World" section with a subforum for Dana would really help differentiate the two, reduce the vagueness that afflicts the two sections now, and allow for a richer discussion area for Dana and other compassionate Buddhist activities.
This is just a collection of my thoughts. I'd be interested to see what other members or admins think. I hope I have not come off as demanding or overstepping my boundaries. Thank you!
