I tried to send one and it seems to be stuck in the Outbox. Is there some other button to click, to get the message to be sent?

It will remain in the outbox until the person who you sent the message to opens and reads it.

The recipient has to read it, then it'll be moved to your sent box. If they don't read, it'll linger in the outbox.

Yes - they do when the recipient pulls his head out ... long enough to look at the User Control Panel.
