Thanks for the list of artists, imagemarie! I usually listen to a lot of soundtrack music and artist like Johann Johannsson, Max Richter, Nils Frahm, Hauschka. They incorporate a lot of electronica sounds into an already very minimal style of music. I personally don't really identify with the "drone" aspect, but I suppose it's an accurate description. I prefer "minimalist drift."
I know what you mean about breathing it in. It is definitely more of an experience, rather than just a listening. I started doing it when I tried for almost a whole day to create a mix of minimalist music to paint/work with. After becoming frustrated, I just decided to do it myself. I'm currently working on writing a piece about it that will accompany the release of some of those albums on an internet label. Essentially, I saw a gap in my experience that I wanted to fill as skillfully as possible. No, chasing, no striving, no yearning, etc.
