Err Ben... this?
Bhikkhus, if you develop and make much this one thing,
it invariably leads to weariness, cessation, appeasement, realization and extinction.
What is it? It is recollecting the Enlightened One.
If this single thing is recollected and made much,
it invariably leads to weariness, cessation, appeasement, realization and extinction.

THanks plwk,
I read something on Cooran's fb page that led me to believe that it was her birthday today.
oh well, nothing wrong with having two birthdays a year!

I guess we can take this thread in the spirit of the late, lamented Frank Zappa:

Greetings,

I guess we may as well tuck into the cake then, rather than wait for Chris to blow out the candles.

Anyone fancy a slice?

Yeah I would like a slice, actually.
What sort of cake is it?

Thank you all!! My daughter had given me a weekend at the Gold Coast and dinner and a show for my birthday on 26 June and this weekend was when we were able to do it.
She put a photo on Facebook which has caused the confusion.

Not sure who can see this photo from the link, but here it is:

The obilgatory Buddhist birthday song:

What is the use of his knowledge
pertaining to the number of insects in the whole world?
Rather, inquire into his knowledge of
that which is to be practised by us

-- Dharmakirti

This being is bound to samsara, kamma is his means for going beyond.

It IS, after all (at least according to me) the OBLIGATORY Buddhist birthday song. Anyway, I rather like it.
