Thank you Bhante
Those photos are phenomenal. Its time like these that I wish i lived in a Buddhist country.

I received a bit of a Vesak Day gift today when I was phoned by a co-practitioner who asked me whether I would like to organise the equipment purchases here in Tasmania for our local centre. Since moving here, and apart from the little I do here, I have missed the opportunity to serve others in the Dhamma.

I hope you get plenty of rest soon Venerable!

loud gush the streamlets,
but great rivers flow silently.

Thank-you Ven. Appicchato! The largest number of monks I've seen together in Australia (apart from a conference) were four bhikkhus when Ajahn Liem visited from Thailand a few weeks ago.

Lovely photos, much appreciated.

Thanks for the photos bhante. :thanks:

My Vesak Day was a little more low key... 7 precepts, reading some of the Mindfulness In Plain English PDF you sent me, and reading a Dhamma talk from Ajahn Lee.

And now that it's tomorrow, I just finished eating the piece of cake I didn't have for dinner last night. ;)

Metta,
Retro. :)

Today, 13th May 2014 [Thailand: 2557BE / Indonesia: 2558 BE], Uposatha Day, is also the thrice sacred celebration of the International Vesak Day
Video highlights last year's Malaysian Annual Vesak Procession.

On Vesak Day, which marks the birth, enlightenment and passing of the Buddha, the United Nations joins millions of people — Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike — in reflecting on his life and teachings. More here
