The General's Daughter is a 1999 murder mystery film starring John Travolta. The plot concerns the mysterious death of the daughter of a prominent general. The movie is based on the novel by the same name written in 1992 by Nelson DeMille, and was directed by Simon West. The film was a box office success grossing $22 million in its opening weekend and $102 million in its total domestic run. Topics of interest include the integrity of junior officers in bringing justice against senior ones at great odds and at personal peril.

Buddha's Verse 17. The evil-doer suffers in this world, and he suffers in the next; he suffers in both. He suffers when he thinks of the evil he has done; he suffers more when going on the evil path.

I put this movie as 1 of the best with my other favorites of all time. The General's Daughter is thrilling and leaves you guessing until the end. I think this movie gives an accurate picture of the military. Shots of murder scenes are not anything one would have seen in a movie ten years ago, but certainly adds to the plot of this movie. All of the actors give great performances. This is a must see film!

Please recommend me 1 or 2 good movies...thanks.

Travolta is so cool

Heaven and Earth by Oliver Stone is quite harrowing, but thought provoking.

Fight Club is very good, if you haven't seen it.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is a lighter one, but very good also! I like the lead actor.

If you see one of these tell me your opinion, be it good or bad.

Hi
Another all time favourite of mine is 'The Mission' with Robert De Nero. Set in south America as the imperial powers and challenging for control.

Dear Graham,
Kundun is a 1997 epic biographical film written by Melissa Mathison and directed by Martin Scorsese. It is based on the life and writings of the 14th Dalai Lama, the exiled political and spiritual leader of Tibet....I watched it on TV once.

This movie was really, really, really haunting.

I totally understood how this would destroy a girl's life.

Couldn't help but think of how lucky I was with my Dad. He was very protective of his family, family came before everything else.

One day, as a teen, I was in a public pool. I gut dunked by a big boy, and he dunked my head under water so badly, mercilessly, that I thought I was going to die.

Just when I could not struggle anymore and pretended to be dead, he quickly let go of me and disappeared. I somehow managed to get back to the surface, using my last strength to swim away as far away as possible under water, fearing he was perhaps waiting for me again...indeed, he was looking around....
I climbed out, caughing, and went to call my Dad at work. He arrived shortly after with the car, leaving a dustcloud on the street.

He stormed in and yelled for the boy who was meanwhile hiding, but others pushed him forward.

My Dad yelled on the top of his voice at him and slapped him, left, right, and told him:

"If you ever come closer than 1 m again to my daughter, you can collect your bones from the trees. IS THAT CLEAR???

I was so proud of my Dad.

Years later we talked about the dangers of being a young lady going out at night. He warned me of all the tricks men could use to trap me and I promised him to be careful.

I couldn't resist asking what he would do if I got killed and he instantly said, with a guttural voice:

"I'd be happy to sit in jail, if only I get him in my hands before everyone else."

--- I kept in mind I should make sure he won't end up in jail....

I owe him so much more than the knowlegde he was there for me 100 %.

He was wonderful.
