A Date With An Angel

Post by yawares »

Dear members,

Today while I'm searching for pictures of heavens' chariots that I secretly wish to see/ride in when I die(my daydream!) even think that if I'm not good enough...then (I beg heaven) just give me a pair of wings so I can fly to heaven by myself...and suddenly this cute movie flashs into my mind:

 A Date With An Angel, starring Michael Knight/Emmanuelle Beart

I saw this movie with my daughter. I really like this French actress Emmanuelle Beart, if you see this movie, you will know why. But beyond the lovely Ms. Beart, Date with an Angel is totally worth seeing if you are into very cute romantic comedies.

Jim is getting ready to marry his fiance Patty, a spoiled daddy's girl, when his plans are thrown into a loop. It all begins with his friends kidnapping him for his surprise bachelor party, the morning after which he finds a beautiful angel unconcious in his pool. Jim's attempts to help the angel get home complicates his life in more ways then he has ever imagined and both hilarity and romance ensue.

Date with an Angel is totally worth watching. Both adorable and funny, it will entertain pretty much anyone who sits down to watch it.

 Love the movie

Killer whales trapped in Quebec sea ice !!

Post by yawares »

Dear Members,

This morning news is quite interesting...

Image

MONTREAL (AP) — A community in Quebec's Far North is calling for outside help to free about a dozen killer whales trapped under a vast stretch of sea ice.

Locals in Inukjuak said the mammals have gathered around a single hole in the ice — slightly bigger than a pickup truck — in a desperate bid to get oxygen.

Mayor Peter Inukpuk urged the Canadian government Wednesday to send an icebreaker as soon as possible to crack open the ice and help them find open water. The Department of Fisheries and Oceans said it is sending officials to assess the situation.

"Fisheries and Oceans Canada is assessing the situation and are exploring every possible option, but will only be in a position to determine what — if anything — can be done once our specialists arrive on site," spokesman Frank Stanek said in a statement.

A hunter first spotted the pod of about a dozen trapped whales Tuesday at the hole, which is on the eastern shore of the Hudson Bay. Inukjuak is about 1,500 kilometers (900 miles) north of Montreal.

Dozens of villagers made the one-hour snowmobile ride Tuesday to see the unusual spectacle. They snapped photos and shot video footage of the killer whales surfacing in the opening — and even thrusting themselves skyward while gasping for air.

One woman who made the journey to the gap in the ice said even a curious polar bear approached the hole amid the commotion. Siasie Kasudluak said the bear was shot by a local hunter for its meat.

The trapped orcas appeared to be in distress, but locals were ill-equipped to help out.

Kasudluak said the hole appeared to be shrinking in the freezing temperatures. Inukpuk believes the sudden drop in temperature recently caught the orcas off guard, leaving them boxed in under the ice.

I'm sure the whales will be fine...help is on the way!

Jail time seems too harsh. Buddhists shouldn't be too attached to an inanimate object; however, everyone, Buddhists and non-Buddhists should show respect to the symbol. People should be taught about the importance of the symbol, not that it has any 'empowerment' but a symbol of a religion and venerated as a symbol for the founder and teachings.

Once I saw a "captured on video" tv show where a man was caught making sexual gestures/moves on a Buddha statue in his backyard by the pool and while he did that he fell and hit the diving board and landed into the pool spraining or fracturing his anke, IIRC. I couldn't help but think:

Instant kamma.

Dear David,

Yes yes instant kamma indeed!
Another one.. kamma...When I was in Columbus,Ohio...my friend told me that Larry Flynt(the Hustler Magazine owner) published the picture of the Buddha sitting meditation..and Larry Flynt altered the picture to be a dirty picture(I didn't see the picture)....and later on...the big news!!...

Shooting [from Wikipedia]
On March 6, 1978, during a legal battle related to obscenity in Gwinnett County, Georgia, Flynt and his local lawyer, Gene Reeves, Jr., were shot by a sniper in an ambush near the county courthouse in Lawrenceville. The shooting left Flynt partially paralyzed, with permanent spinal cord damage, and in need of a wheelchair. White supremacist serial killer Joseph Paul Franklin confessed to the shootings many years later, claiming he was outraged by an interracial photo shoot in Hustler. Franklin, who is currently on death row for an unrelated murder conviction, has never been brought to trial for the attempted killing. Flynt has made statements indicating he believes Franklin's story, and some police officials also concur. Flynt's injuries caused him excruciating, constant pain, and he was addicted to painkillers until multiple surgeries deadened the affected nerves. He also suffered a stroke caused by one of several overdoses of his analgesic medications; he recovered but has had pronunciation difficulties since.

My friend said the same..."instant kamma" !
