Working it out of my system in song form...

Postby Mawkish1983 » Wed Jun 17, 2009 1:02 pm

I've uploaded a (rather un-skillful) song I just wrote to http://www.myspace.com/mawkish1983

The song is called "Searching for some other truth". I'm hoping that'll get it out of my system :)

Greetings Mawkish,

Pfft... Myspace.

Can you post us some lyrics? :reading:

Metta,
Retro. :)
If you have asked me of the origination of unease, then I shall explain it to you in accordance with my understanding:
Whatever various forms of unease there are in the world, They originate founded in encumbering accumulation. (Pārāyanavagga)

Exalted in mind, just open and clearly aware, the recluse trained in the ways of the sages:
One who is such, calmed and ever mindful, He has no sorrows! -- Udana IV, 7

It is a more skillful approach that trying to convert your Christian friends, imo.

With Metta,

Guy
Four types of letting go:

1) Giving; expecting nothing back in return
2) Throwing things away
3) Contentment; wanting to be here, not wanting to be anywhere else
4) "Teflon Mind"; having a mind which doesn't accumulate things

Sure:

Slow burning realisation, I fell to my knees.
Dedicated a life of service, or
pay my life as the fee.
Tuning into my hearts desires I found the book isn't
true.
The only regret I have is that I wasted so much time thinking of
you.

Chorus:
You're a lie.
I was told you're alive, but you're a
lie.
And the end isn't nigh.
(x2)

I went searching for some other truth
and found the world in a state.
Instead of humans searching for love, they all
preach their own brand of hate.
People searching outside for hope, if there
was a god why would he hide?
To find eternal happiness just look
inside.

Chorus

(It's poo)

Remember, I can't sing, can't write decent lyrics and my instrumental skills need a lot of work... so don't expect anything to the same quality as the "pet shop boys" ;)

Have you heard of Type O Negative?

(I quite like Type 0 Negative :embarassed: )

Aaaaanyway, I've uploaded a slightly altered version of the song "Searching for some other truth"... and I don't know which version is better (The old one or the new one)... so I've put both of the tracks on my MySpace page and I'm asking people to vote for which is the least-rubbish!

So, the link is http://www.myspace.com/mawkish1983 and the tracks are titled "Searching" and "Searching [Newer]" (or something like that). I'll count votes however I receive them, so you can just reply to this thread with your vote if you like... or maybe I'll set up a poll? Naa, no point, not enough people are going to want to sit through about 9 minutes of my god-aweful music <laughs>

By the way, the small change was the addition of some piano harmony.

If anyone wants to take a listen and vote for which out of these two version of the same song is the least-crappy I'd appreciate it so much!

Thanks
