A tiger snake in the class room.

Post by Ben »

Getting up close and personal with Australia's second most deadliest reptile, the very shy Tasmanian Tiger Snake Notechis Ater.

Enjoy.

the very shy Tasmanian Tiger Snake
Has it had any counselling? I wouldn't like to think of it missing out on a full and active social life.

Hi Sam,

They are naturally very placid creatures unless threatened or stepped on. Its the nasty human beings who would kill these gracious creatures on sight that require the counselling.

They have a wide range of colour morphs depending on their habitat. I've seen some near-white tiger snakes, some jet black and some that have the classic tiger banding in a number of colours. As far as being dangerous - these guys pack enough venom in one bight to kill 10 people. They've been known to kill a clydesdale horse or two.
kind regards,

Ben

That's one of the funniest comments I've seen in a long time. :jumping:
