Any Louis CK fans here? If so you will probably enjoy this unusually deep (for mainstream media) take on cell phones. (mobiles to some)

He's my favorite stand up comic, right now. He's a genius!

I think my favorite quote of his is "Everything's amazing, nobody's happy." It's a very deep insight into western civilization and human nature itself _ not to mention relevant to the dhamma.

I can't see the video from where I am (Portugal).

LCK: "life is tremendously sad, just by being in it"

Pascal: “Distraction is the only thing that consoles us for miseries and yet it is itself the greatest of our miseries.”

Thanks bazzaman, but it doesn't work either. But if it's part of the interview on Conan, I saw it. Excelent!

I don't think his point is about sadness.

I think his point is that people have compulsive habits like smart phone use, overating, drinking, surfing the net, bickering on the net, etc, because they are terrified being alone with themselves and whatever comes up.

In other words, exactly what the dhamma asks us to do. Be alone with ourselves, with whatever comes up, without running away.

I can't think of a video more appropriate for this board, thanks for starting this thread.
