Solitude is often mistaken for loneliness or isolation, but it's really just a desire to spend time alone. It doesn't have to mean denying attention to your loved ones. In fact, Scottish writer John Burnside says it can make you appreciate the time you spend with them more deeply. 'Solitude is enlightening, but if it doesn't lead us back to society it can become a spiritual dead end,' he says.

I listened to the radio show yesterday on my way back to the mountain. It is very worthwhile and I recommend it.
Comments are welcome but do listen to the audio girst before commenting.
Thanks.

“No lists of things to be done. The day providential to itself. The hour. There is no later. This is later. All things of grace and beauty such that one holds them to one's heart have a common provenance in pain. Their birth in grief and ashes.”
- Cormac McCarthy, The Road

Learn this from the waters:
in mountain clefts and chasms,
loud gush the streamlets,
but great rivers flow silently.
