Ajahn Sumedho stepping down...maybe...

'...apparently the big news in the Western Sangha at present is that Ajahn Sumedho will be retiring and Ajahn Amaro will take over as abbott of Amaravati Monastery in the UK.'

just checked the forest sangha news section and nothing new has been added since mid January.

I believe Luang por (or should it be luang ta now  ) stepped down a few years ago, but took up the position again for some reason I am not sure of.
Blog, Suttas, Aj Chah, Facebook.

He who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that. His reasons may be good, and no one may have been able to refute them.
But if he is equally unable to refute the reasons on the opposite side, if he does not so much as know what they are, he has no ground for preferring either opinion …
...
He must be able to hear them from persons who actually believe them … he must know them in their most plausible and persuasive form.

I think thats right. The version I heard from responsible but fallible sources, was that Ajahn Sucitto wanted to move on, and that Luang Por took over on a " temporary" basis..that was several years ago Luang Por must be nearly 80 now ?
